Update on Ginshi

This is not the kind of post we wanted to start the day out sharing. When we called Veterinary Specialty Services West this morning to get an update on Ginshi, who we introduced our followers to in a post last night, we got some heartbreaking news.

Unfortunately, Ginshi took a turn for the worse after our post. He was having labored breathing and ended up having a seizure, which he did not fully recover from. Our Foster Care Coordinator was called, and she rushed to the hospital. After a heart wrenching conversation with the veterinarian, it was decided to have Ginshi put to sleep. Just before 2 am he passed away in her arms.

The veterinarian that was overseeing Ginshi's care said that he had more going on than originally thought, to include being Septic. Sepsis is a serious condition in which the body responds improperly to an infection, causing organ damage. This, along with the combination of everything else this little guy was trying to fight off, was just too much for him to be able to overcome.

We find comfort that Ginshi was where he should be, getting the best possible care. Yet, we also know how unfair this is. He was a puppy that should have grown up to live a long and happy life, loved by a family of his own.
