Thank Goodness Nayvee's Cry for Help Was Heard

A woman while returning to her car in a parking lot in St. Peters, Missouri on July 3, heard what sounded like a screaming kitten. Walking towards the desperate cries, she found a Silver Tabby who we have named Nayvee.
When the SNUGGLE Pet Rescue phone rings now, we pause for a moment hoping someone is not asking for help with an entire litter of kittens. It's not that we are unwilling to take them in, because this is a normal request when we are still in the summer kitten season. What has changed though is whether we will have the room.
We shared last Thursday that two of our Foster Care Volunteers are currently not able to take into their home new kittens. This is due to the recent deaths of kittens they were caring for. Until we get the necropsies results back from the lab and know for sure what the cause was, we are taking every precaution to make sure no other lives are lost.
Thankfully, this recent call was for just one two-day old kitten, and we had a Foster Care Volunteer with the space. In total SNUGGLE Pet Rescue has eight full-time foster homes, less the two that are only taking care of the kittens they already had. We're pleased to report that these kittens are all doing well. We've kept them where they were because we didn't want to risk sending them to one of our other fosters in case, they exposed the kittens there to something that was contagious.
Knowing we will be getting more calls to help other kittens in the days and weeks ahead we are getting prepared by asking for help. Each of our six available fosters homes are nearing capacity so we need to expand our team. Given this is an emergency, we will be offering a training class within the week to train new Foster Care Volunteers. If you decide to fill out an application but can only help for a short time, we would still greatly appreciate the help to get us through these busy summer months.
We are also happy to report that Nayvee is doing well, even though she arrived weighing only 3 ounces. She quickly realized good tasting stuff comes out of the bottle, and she wastes no time making it disappear.
