Kittens and puppies come to SNUGGLE Pet Rescue in all different kinds of ways. Whoever it is that brings them to us, what is critical is that no time is wasted. Even a difference of a couple hours delay can result in a kitten or puppy living or dying.
This week we had a little Tortie who we have named Sprout, join our kittens already in foster care. Amazingly enough someone spotted her lying in the grass. After searching the area, the kindhearted person was unable to locate any other kittens or a mother. The tiny girl was only a day old and still attached to her by the umbilical cord to the placenta. It was apparent Sprout needed to be seen by a veterinarian as quickly as possible.
Once in the hands of a veterinarian and technician, Sprout, who weighed 3.5 ounces, was given the care she needed to stabilize her. Then a call was made to us since the vet’s office was not set up to take care of a neonate around the clock for weeks.
Sprout has settled in nicely, now sharing a carrier with two other kittens about her same age. We are hopeful they will all continue to thrive and be leaving us here in a couple months to begin a new life with a family of their own.
