Oscar was stuck when he was found. His umbilical cord was preventing him from moving. It appears he was born in the grass, and the cord adhered to the blades as it dried. More than likely he had littermates, which the mother had moved to a safer location. When Oscar could not be picked up though, our guess is he got left behind. It took the hands of a compassionate individual to save him.
Now in the care of one of SNUGGLE Pet Rescue's Foster Care volunteers Oscar has been cleaned up and the fly eggs found on him removed. He has been given Capstar to keep him flea free. This morning, he is responding well to the care he is getting, and he has latched right onto the bottle, making up for a few missed meals.
We can't help but wonder if Oscar did indeed have siblings, and if so, where they are now and how they are doing. They are better off for sure with their mother, but they will more than likely grow up to be feral cats. If they are not trapped by an animal organization or a concerned citizen and spayed/neutered they will produce more kittens that may end up alone just like Oscar.
