One Fortunate Baby

Tinkerbell is extremely fortunate to be alive. Her mother was hit by a car and her baby was in her mouth at the time, most likely being moved to what she thought would be a safer location for her baby. Sadly, the protective mom did not survive but she protected Tinkerbell until the end. Thankfully her baby came away from the accident without a scratch on her.
The person who scooped up the surviving kitten from the street in front of his house called a co-worker who fosters. Until she could come and get the kitten, she gave him instructions on how to keep the baby warm, using a heating pad. She told him to put a hand towel under the kitten and not put her directly on the heating pad or she could overheat. The kitten was hanging in there when she was picked up a while later and taken home by the woman so she could hopefully get the kitten to eat. Much to everyone's relief, she did.
SNUGGLE Pet Rescue was called because the experienced foster care provider is at her limit on the number of kittens she can have at one time. She did bring Tinkerbell to us yesterday and we picked up where she left off caring for the orphan.
We received another message today from the woman saying that a second kitten the same age had been found at the location where Tinkerbell came from. Since the woman lives in Farmington, we suggested she look to make sure there were no more kittens before she made the long drive again. After searching two nearby abandoned buildings this afternoon, there were no signs of another kitten.
In the morning, the woman will be bringing us the second kitten so the siblings can be together. Meanwhile, Tinkerbell is doing well but we can’t help but wonder if she is puzzled over suddenly finding herself all alone. That will change tomorrow.
