Bea and Bonnie came close to finding out what happens when you can't escape the heat.

The simple fact is that if a person or animal is exposed to severe heat for too long, they can die. That almost happened to two kittens in O'Fallon.

Imagine laying on the hot asphalt in a parking lot, getting hotter by the minute and being unable to move. Bea and Bonnie somehow found themselves in this life-threatening predicament. Being only 2 to 3 days old they were completely helpless. When a passerby spotted them, they rescued the panting kittens. After they were dropped off at the city Animal Control facility we were contacted and agreed to take the two sisters.

Both kittens are doing surprisingly well, but they have been through quite an ordeal that came very close to not ending well. We'll continue to watch them very closely and do whatever it takes to give them the support they need to remain alive.

With the temperature as hot as it is in our area right now, we wanted to remind everyone of the dangers it poses to animals. The information below offers some great advice on how to safeguard dogs and cats. We owe it them to make smart choices!
