A Face We Can't Help but Love

Some of our kittens arrive looking a little bedraggled. The saying, "It's a face only a mother would love is not quite true." SNUGGLE Pet Rescue loves all our kittens and puppies no matter what they look like.
Marmalade is another kitten that was found in a yard in Granite City, Illinois. It's looking more and more like the two places tied for where mother cats somehow get separated from their babies are front porches and yards. This little guy was in the grass long enough to be covered in fly eggs, and he even had a few ticks on him.
The family that found the nearly 2-week-old kitten, took him to the Humane Society of Missouri and they directed them to bring him to us after they called to see if we had room for another baby. Thankfully, we did.
First order of business once Marmalade got to our Foster Care Volunteer's home was to give him Capstar to deal with the parasites. He also had some goopy eyes, so they were wiped with a warm compress and then eye ointment was put in each eye. This will be repeated 2 to 3 times a day until they return to normal.
This photo was taken after Marmalade was all cleaned up and fed. At first, he made up his mind he didn't want anything to do with the bottle, but he eventually gave in and had himself a good meal. He'd obviously been eating well before we took over the responsibility of feeding him because he weighs 5-1/2 ounces.
The look on Marmalade's face is now one of pure contentment and relief knowing he is safe, which is what we love to see.
