In the past 30 days SNUGGLE Pet Rescue has taken on the care of 42 kittens. That's a lot of babies that have been entrusted to our team of dedicated Foster Care Volunteers. Some people have asked if we remember all 6,000 - and counting - kittens and puppies we have cared for since 2004.
Unfortunately, it really would be impossible to remember all of them, even though we wish we could. While we have them though, they are our number one priority, and we know every detail about them in order to do the best job possible of meeting all of their needs.
The ones that do stand out are the newborns with stories that amazed us from the moment we first learned of them. These are the ones who beat some pretty significant odds and somehow managed to find the strength to survive, along with some help from us. Babies that were on death's door and made remarkable comebacks we could never forget either. Of course, there are the ones that are just so stinking cute that every look, every movement, every sound they make, leave lasting memories in that mental scrapbook we all keep adding to. Some of the new kittens and puppies remind us of other fosters we have had an extra special attachment to, and it's that connection that can make them unforgettable too.
Just because a kitten did not have a standout story, does not make them any less special to us though. The families that adopt our graduates and send us periodic updates bring back memories of those kittens and puppies. When we see them living with a family that absolutely adores them, we are grateful for the people in their lives that make them feel special every single day.
We got a call yesterday from the St. Charles County Pet Adoption Center, asking if we had room for 5 more newborn kittens. Very close to capacity, which is determined by how many Foster Care Volunteers we have and how many kittens they can care for at the same time, we were able to squeeze in Tate, Teagan, Tobias, Tray and Tyler.
When we asked for their background, no details could be provided. All we know is that someone came into the shelter and dropped them off. Without any details, we can't share what has happened in the first 2 days since these 4 little boys and their sister were born, which we estimate to be on September 18th. They arrived with a blank slate.
However, that is changing from now forward. Tate, Teagan, Tobias, Tray and Tyler are with people who care about them and every day that we have them, they will be loved, and we will record all the milestones in their lives. We'll pay attention to all the cute things they do. And we will never forget how fortunate they are to have ended up with us.
After these five move on, more stories will be captured by the people who will be blessed to have chosen them to complete their family. Then just watch out for all the stories to come.
